hey Skyfield looks handy. I see that it handles working with AstroPy - I was trying to work with AstroPy directly and was having trouble as well. I'm going to keep reference to skyfield in my project and tap it if I run into problems. For now, I have the data I need ready to go with those local ephemeris files.
